Mt. Hood, OR – The final stop on the national Under Armour 3rd Rail Jam tour for 2012 is at Oregon’s Mt. Hood Meadows ski resort this Saturday. Now in its fifth year, the 3rd Rail Jam is a nationally touring grassroots snow sport competition coupled with live hip-hop music, art, fashion, technology and culture.
A slopestyle rail contest is held in a true jam format as part of the event. Judges are present at all features to provide the best scoring coverage possible. Each event allows for up to 150 riders separated into four divisions: all girls, 15 and under, best of breed, and skiers. Each division competes separately in a two-round elimination for cash and prizes. There is a $25 entry fee, and $5 from each entry fee will be donated to AMPED 4-A-Cure to help eradicate cancer. The event will run from 3 to 8 p.m. at Meadows’ Shipyard Rail Park.
The 3rd Rail Jam has invited graffiti artists to create and present during the competition while DJ’s spin hip hop music. The entire event will be presented to add vibe to the competition and raise awareness and funding for AMPED 4-A-Cure.
