The incident happened at about noon on Saturday within the base terminal of the lift, manufactured by the now defunct Yan Lifts of Carson City, Nev. The evacuation performed by the resort’s ski patrol using ropes and harnesses took about two hours to complete, resort officials indicate, and no injuries were reported.

The lift was reopened on Sunday following repairs and a state safety inspection. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the derailment.
