Hendrickson Wins Again in Zao

Zao, Japan –Park City, Utah’s Sarah Hendrickson continued her dominance of the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup on Sunday with her eighth victory of the season in Zao.

Hendrickson led both rounds for a 15-point margin over Japan’s Sara Takanashi. She took the first round lead despite jumping 1.5 meters shorter than Takanashi, and had the longest ride of the second round to take the win a day after clinching the overall World Cup title on Saturday.

“Knowing that I already had secured the overall title, it made it easier to jump with less pressure,” said Hendrickson. “I was able to be more relaxed and that helped me have strong jumps today.”

Jessica Jerome, also of Park City, placed fifth on Sunday.

“I’ve been working on my jumps and getting slowly better and better,” she said. “I knew what I had to do and am capable of doing, so I just had to go out there and consistently put two good jumps together.”

Hendrickson will be at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival in Oslo, Norway this weekend along with the rest of the Women’s Ski Jumping USA team for her final World Cup of the season and to accept the crystal globe. Hendrickson now leads the World Cup by an insurmountable 335 points and the USA leads in the Nations Cup by 574 points over Germany.

“I’m a little tired, but this has been amazing and I’m looking forward to Oslo and finishing out this great first World Cup season and enjoying it with my teammates,” said Hendrickson.

Added Jerome, “We’re really excited to head to Oslo and wrap up the most killer season our team has ever had.”
