Keystone Celebrates Closing Weekend

Keystone, CO – Spring weather has hit the Colorado high country, resulting in goggle tans galore. Keystone Resort will celebrate its closing weekend this Saturday and Sunday with spring skiing and riding, special events and mountain-side live music.

After cruising down the slopes kick off the weekend by stopping by the River Run Village Plaza for a free concert. Grab a cold beer from one of the many beverage carts, order some appetizers from an array of food vendors, take a seat at one of the numerous restaurant decks and listen to acoustic music from Sam Bush featuring bluegrass intermixed with jazz, rock and funk. This family friendly affair includes a kid’s fun zone that will keep them busy. Starting at 3 p.m. there will be crowd giveaways and the day’s opening act before Bush is set to hit the stage at 5 p.m.

Every year skiers and snowboarders head to Keystone Resort for the resort’s Slush Cup. Garbed in wild costumes, they compete for prizes by skimming across a pond strapped to a snowboard or clicked into skis. This thrilling spectator event entertains with impressive falls, amusing commentary and a chance to have one last hoorah at Keystone Resort. Head on over to the Mountain House Base Area by 10 a.m. on Sunday for registration followed by the official event starting at noon. A Summit Pass good for the 2012-13 ski and snowboard season will be handed out in the categories of Best Costume, Best Crash and Best Overall. Stick around until 3 p.m. for awards followed by live music by the Swing Crew at Keystone’s Last Lift Bar.
