La Parva, Chile –U.S.-based South American guided ski tour operator PowderQuest is partnering with Chile’s La Parva ski resort to offer the first ever Ingrid Backstrom signature camp for women. For those female skiers advanced intermediate and higher who are looking for a taste of endless winter, this ski camp will run from August 3-10 in the Chilean Andes of South America.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with PowderQuest and La Parva for an amazing week of skiing,” says Backstrom, a true women’s big mountain skiing legend. “La Parva offers excellent terrain for us to ski, learn, and play on-plus gorgeous sunsets and true Andean beauty. We are all looking forward to an amazing week!”
After growing up skiing with family around Seattle, Backstrom moved to California’s Squaw Valley to spend just a season, but it took only a few freeskiing contests to realize that she had found her passion. At the 2012 Powder Magazine Awards, for the seventh time Backstrom won the prestigious Reader Poll award and for the fifth time, Best Female Performance, in Matchstick Productions’ Attack of La Nina and Sherpa Productions’ All.I.Can. At her signature camp in Chile this August, Backstrom will be sharing her professional experience and knowledge in a freeride focused curriculum designed to encourage ski and backcountry progression.
“We are looking forward to having Ingrid Backstrom lead our first ever women’s ski camp in Chile,” says PowderQuest’s David Owen. “Her knowledge of La Parva’s ski terrain and her passion toward pushing women’s skiing progression will make this week a once in a life time experience for our women guests, in a fun, laid back atmosphere.”
In addition to exploring the terrain at La Parva ski resort, guests will also indulge in private wine tastings, yoga classes, Chilean cuisine and tango lessons. Lodging for the camp is located slopeside and includes priority lift access with no lines. The Chilean adventure finishes with a tour of downtown Santiago’s open air market and a vineyard tour just outside of the city.
