Vail, CO – The Internal Revenue Service has slapped World Cup alpine skiing star Lindsey Vonn with a tax lien of more than $1.7 million.
The $1,705,437 lien to collect delinquent federal taxes was filed by the IRS on April 2 against Vonn and her estranged husband, Thomas Vonn, with the Elko County Recorder in Nevada. According to the lien it is from a single year of earnings in tax year 2010, the year that Vonn won the gold medal in downhill and bronze in super G at the Olympic Winter Games in Whistler, Canada.
Vonn, who earned $608,000 on the World Cup circuit this winter in addition to lucrative endorsement deals, has indicated that she was previously unaware of the debt and has since made arrangements to pay the balance in full.
