Copper Mountain, CO – With participants braving the snow-themed obstacles in last weekend’s CopperMan adventure race in Colorado, the inaugural end-of-season event combined with the National Ski Patrol (NSP) and Copper Mountain Resort to raise over $2,800 to aid the recovery of Sally Franklyn, a long-standing member of Copper Mountain’s Ski Patrol team who was critically injured in a ski accident in Wyoming’s Teton Mountains in late March.

“Copper Mountain would like to extend a sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the ‘Super Hero Sally’ heat, and to the National Ski Patrol who raised $718 at their annual banquet over the weekend,” Copper Mountain officials said in a prepared statement. “Many of these NSP members did not know Sally personally, yet her story has touched their hearts.”

The balance came from CopperMan cape sales at $10 each and the total was matched by Copper Mountain Resort.

“It is humbling to see the community come together in support of a long standing super star,” said Pete Woods, Copper Mountain Marketing Director.

Francklyn, the former web content director of SKI and Skiing magazines and currently a public relations executive with  Denny, Ink. in Jackson Hole, Wyo., was placed in a medically-induced coma in an Idaho hospital following the accident in which she tumbled down a chute and struck her head on nearby rocks with sufficient force to crack her ski helmet. Last weekend, while Copper held its fundraising event, Francklyn was transferred to a facility in Colorado Springs closer to family members. She remains in a coma.
