Scenic Flights From Queenstown Provide Air Access to Treble Cone

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand –Skiers and snowboarders looking for a spectacular journey from Queenstown to the Southern Lakes’ largest ski area, Treble Cone, can book a scenic flight over the foothills of the Southern Alps this season.

Launched two years ago, the service is proving popular among visitors to the region and Queenstown locals. The daily service by Glenorchy Air departs from Queenstown Airport, flies past Coronet Peak, Arrowtown and the historic Macetown area to land in the Matukituki Valley at the base of Treble Cone. Here clients are picked up by the ski area shuttle for a day’s skiing or snowboarding at Treble Cone before flying back to Queenstown.

Last year, skiers were hitting the slopes within 45 minutes of leaving Queenstown. Round trip flights cost NZ$269 per person and include all transfers as well as a Treble Cone day pass.

“A scenic flight over the Southern Alps is a fantastic way to start your day’s skiing or riding,” said Nigel Kerr, Treble Cone marketing manager.  “The adrenalin starts flowing from take-off and continues throughout the day as you enjoy the terrain and stunning views at Treble Cone. Plus it considerably reduces travel time to the mountain.”
