Park City, UT – Canyons Resort announced on Wednesday that the Utah ski and snowboard resort will be the new Park City venue for three free outdoor film screenings as part of the Sundance Institute Summer Series.
On Thursday, June 21, the resort will screen Under African Skies, in which Paul Simon returns to South Africa to explore the journey of his historic Graceland album. The war in Iraq is the backdrop for CSNY Déjà Vu, slated for screening on Thursday, July 12, as Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young’s “Freedom of Speech Tour” criss-crosses North America. Finally on Thursday, July 26, a hip hop-driven drama about a Mexican girl who rises to fame and consciousness will be profiled in Filly Brown.
The films will screen at 9:00 p.m. each night at the Village Stage in the heart of Canyons Resort. Complimentary guest parking will be provided behind Sundial Lodge. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and blankets.
Other Summer Series films from the non-profit Sundance Institute will be shown in Salt Lake City at Red Butte Garden.
“Our Summer Series is one way we share independent film with audiences year round,” explains Jill Miller, Managing Director of Sundance Institute. “We look forward to enjoying these films, a mix of audience and critical favorites from past Sundance Film Festivals, with our neighbors and friends in Utah during the gorgeous summer months.”
