Mt. Hood, OR – Mt. Hood Meadows will offer cross country skiers six days of Nordic skiing in June. The Oregon ski resort will offer 3.5 kilometers of set track for skating and traditional striding Friday, Saturday and Sunday the first two weekends of June (June 1, 2, 3 and June 8, 9, 10.)
The track will be groomed and set at the resort’s main alpine base area, not at its Hood River Meadows Nordic Center that operates in winter. Hours of operation are from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the track fee will cost $10. Those needing equipment should rent at sport shops on the way to the mountain, as rentals will not be available on site.
Skate skiing clinics will be offered with former U.S. Biathlon team member Sam Cordell. Junior clinics are scheduled Saturdays, June 2 and June 9; and Senior / Master clinics are offered Sundays, June 3 and 10. The clinics run from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will cost $20, plus the $10 track fee.
In addition, Madshus will offer a free equipment demo June 2 and 3. An I.D., credit card and liability release will be required. The demo is designed for a trial to test out Madshus equipment for a short time, so you’ll need your own equipment as well. The $10 track fee is still required while demoing.
