Park City, UT – Skiers visiting Utah’s Deer Valley Resort next winter will find $8 million worth of improvements, including a new high-speed quad chairlift, the resort’s twelfth detachable lift.
The new lift will replace the Deer Crest fixed grip quad on 7,950-foot Little Baldy Mountain. Set to be named the Mountaineer Express chairlift for the popular intermediate ski run beneath it, the new chair will increase the former lift’s uphill skier capacity by 1,200 skiers per hour and is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2012-13 ski season.
“Deer Valley Resort is dedicated to remaining the number one resort in North America and we are continually assessing needed improvements that will be the most advantageous to our guests,” said Bob Wheaton, resort president and general manager.
Additional improvements slated for this summer at Deer Valley will include remodeling the Snow Park Restaurant, replacing the wooden deck at Empire Canyon Lodge with heated pavers, expanding snowmaking capabilities to more terrain in Empire Canyon and purchasing additional low-energy air/water guns. Five additional Prinoth snow cats, including one Beast Groomer, are being purchased to preserve the resort’s reputation for impeccable grooming.
