Grateley, UK – Team GB snowboarding coach Nelson “Nelly” Pratt was found hanged in the garage of his family’s home in Grateley, Hampshire last week. He was 33.
In addition to coaching Team GB, Pratt also served as the snowboarding coach for the British Army and was a renowned snowboarder in his own right, having placed second at the British Snowboard Championships in held in Laax, Switzerland, this past winter.
Tributes have poured onto the Web from the British snowboarding community, praising Pratt as a “nice guy” who was modest, humble and talented.
Pratt’s body was discovered by his father and efforts at resuscitation proved unsuccessful. The coroner’s office is investigating the incident, but police say that they do not suspect foul play.
