Kelowna (BC), Canada – United Airlines announced this week that it will commence daily non-stop service between Los Angeles (LAX) and Kelowna International Airport (YLW) on December 19 to coincide with the popular Christmas ski season in the British Columbia interior.
“This flight will create easier connections for California-based groups and skiers, and a new connection alternative for guests coming from Sydney, Australia. This is Sun Peaks’ largest overseas market,” explains Colin Brost, Director of Sales for Tourism Sun Peaks, which offers shuttles from the airport in Kelowna to the resort.
The new daily flight on the CRJ700 Series, 66-passenger jet will depart LAX at 6:40 p.m. and arrive at YLW at 9:44 p.m. The return flight departs YLW at 8:00 a.m. and arrives at LAX at 10:51 p.m.
Kelowna International Airport is the largest airport in the region. It services a significant number of flights and carriers, and links the region directly with long-haul destinations such as Toronto, and now Los Angeles. In addition to Sun Peaks, the airport also provides access to neighboring resorts of Apex, Silver Star, Mt. Baldy and Big White, the closest ski resort to Kelowna.

Many guests are looking for multiple resorts to ski, and Sun Peaks has been providing such options to guests since the 1990’s.”
