Bolton Valley to Host Run Strong VT 5K, A Disaster Relief Fundraiser

Bolton, VT – Bolton Valley trails will host this summer’s Run Strong VT 5K, a new trail race and disaster relief fundraiser to benefit ReBuild Waterbury, an organization working toward rebuilding the nearby central Vermont community after the destruction from Tropical Storm Irene one year ago this month.

Ms. Vermont will kick off the race at 10 a.m. on Sept. 1 with the National Anthem at the Bolton Valley Sports Center, rain or shine. Runners will follow the Bolton Nordic ski trails, a scenic 5K trail run that proceeds primarily through wooded trails with moderate up and down grades. Trails will range from groomed to muddy and semi-rocky terrain. Bathrooms and showers are available at the start/finish.

Registration is limited to the first 300 registered and costs $35, with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit ReBuild Waterbury, an established 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All runners pre-registered before Aug. 15 will receive an event t-shirt and schwag bag with giveaways. Online registration closes Aug. 30. Race day registration will be open from 8 to 9 a.m. for any remaining spots. All registered participants will automatically be entered into a drawing to win a 2012-13 Bolton Valley season pass.

The overall winner (male and female) will receive awards. All top finishers will receive awards in each age category (Teen 13-18, Young Adult 19-35, Mid-Lifers 36-49, Seniors 50 and older). A raffle and the Awards Ceremony will take place immediately post race. In addition, prizes will be given away in various ways including silent auction and through a post-race raffle.
