Skier Strikes Tree, Dies at Perisher

Perisher Valley (NSW), Australia – A skier collided with a tree and died on Monday at the Guthega area of Perisher Ski Resort in Australia.

The unidentified 53-year-old Tathra man was skiing with a friend sy about 2:20 p.m. Monday afternoon when he failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a tree.

The man’s friend ran to his aid and summoned assistance. The victim was transported by ski patrollers to the bottom of the hill via toboggan while complaining of chest pain. He fell unconscious and although paramedics commenced CPR the man could not be revived. A rescue helicopter from Snowy Hydro SouthCare was subsequently canceled.

NSW Police say that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
