No More Skier, Boarder Cross at X Games

Los Angeles, CA – ESPN announced on Friday that three of the longest-running events at X Games — Snowboarder X, Skier X and Mono Skier X — will be cut from the competition schedule beginning this winter.

Boarder cross has been a staple of all 16 past editions of the X Games, with skier cross added in year two. Mono skier cross has been on the agenda for the past five winters.

“There wasn’t one single factor that led to this decision,” explained Tim Reed, senior director of content strategy for ESPN X Games. “It just comes down to filling the schedule with how much we believe we need to make the event enjoyable to the fans and deliver on what we need from a product standpoint.”

Winter X Games will return to Aspen, Colo. without cross competition, Jan. 24-27, 2013.
