Capbreton, France – World Snowboard Day is set for Dec. 30, 2012 at 176 events in 37 countries around the globe.
EuroSIMA, the World Snowboard Federation and Outdoor Sports Valley, in partnership with SnowSports Industries America, Core Power Asia and TTR Pro Snowboarding, have announced that the 7th edition of World Snowboard Day will once again this year provide the opportunity to discover, for free, snowboarding as a sport and culture across the world’s summits.
At the 6th edition in 2011, 167 events took place in 37 countries. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert rider, you will be able to take advantage of the variety of activities organized on this day including snowboard lessons, equipment tests, demonstrations, meet-ups with pro riders, concerts and more. Participation doesn’t require any special home town, gender, age or snowboarding skill; it’s all about snowboarding and having fun for everyone.
Killington Resort in Vermont, for example, will provide free snowboarding lessons, while New Jersey’s Mountain Creek will host a day complete with lessons, games, races, and more for youth 18 years old and under who are current Shred Love participants. Snowaddicted Brasil will demonstrate sandboarding in the coastal city of Florianópolis, and Sofia in Bulgaria will host gear demos, a concert and a party.
This year, Anne-Flore Marxer, Freeride World Champion and one of the world’s top female snowboarders, will be spicing up the day’s program as its official ambassador.
“What I love the most about World Snowboard Day is how it reunites thousands of people around the world for our shared passion,” Marxer declares. “We all love snowboarding and this is a great opportunity to celebrate our sport on this very special day!”
The full program and further details are available on the day’s official website, www.world-snowboard-day.com.
