Shaun White to Host Northstar’s 40th Birthday Bash

Truckee, CA – Professional snowboarder Shaun White will host Northstar California Resort’s 40th Birthday Bash on Saturday, Dec. 22, in celebration of 40 years of skiing and riding at the North Lake Tahoe resort. The event takes place 40 years to the day the resort opened for skiing for the first time.

With activities for the whole family, including a Burton Snowboard Academy Kids Clinic with White, live music both on the mountain and in the Village at Northstar, a sparkling toast and s’mores in the village, 70’s costume contest and après party at Tavern 6330’, there’s an opportunity for guests of all ages to celebrate.

“Northstar has certainly changed over the years, maturing into a destination resort that is recognized for providing great service and a complete destination mountain resort experience in North Lake Tahoe,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer of Northstar. “We’re excited to have reached this milestone, and to have Shaun here to celebrate it with our guests.”

Kids ages 7 and up signed up for the Burton Snowboard Academy on Saturday, Dec. 22 will be treated to a special visit from White during their lesson. Those interested in participating in the clinic are invited to sign up in advance on a first-come, first-served basis. The lesson includes a Burton snowboard rental, all day coaching, and an all day limited access lift ticket providing access to beginner lifts and terrain.

Live music performances will feature “Forget the Roses” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the deck of the Lodge at Big Springs (mid-mountain), and “Mustache Harbor” on the Village Stage (Village at Northstar) from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

White and Rock will lead the crowd in a complimentary sparkling cider and s’more toast at 4 p.m. in the Village at Northstar, followed by a 70’s costume contest at 4:15 p.m., and an après ski party at Tavern 6330’ in the Village from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. featuring a 70’s ski theme, special après menu and a DJ.
