Invermere (BC), Canada – Panorama is one of a select few Canadian ski areas that’s dedicated to providing racers with exclusive pre-season on-mountain training facilities, including on-mountain slopeside accommodation and amenities before the resort opens for the season to the skiing public.
“Everything that makes for the ultimate training experience is readily available at Panorama. The mountain has consistent early season conditions and lends itself perfectly for a race training venue while the surrounding slopeside village helps athletes stay in the moment,” says Patrick Gillespie, Panorama’s Race Training and Mountain Events Manager. “By eliminating the team’s daily travel time and removing the hassles of transferring equipment to and from the team van, the coaches can keep their racers focused on training.”
Racers have been training on snow at Panorama since Nov. 14, with many remaining until the resort opens to the public on Dec. 14. This winter’s event calendar at the resort is full of races that see athletes competing from the junior ranks to the professional circuit. While an International Paralympic Committee (IPC) race has already taken place at Panorama this season, other events on the calendar include a NorAm Cup Dec. 10-18, the U16 Can Am Feb. 28-Mar. 3, and the Alberta K1 finals Apr. 5-7.
