Bolton, VT – Bolton Valley officials recently announced the appointment of former Northstar-at-Tahoe snowboard coach and terrain park builder Chaz Ferris as the Vermont ski resort’s new terrain park manager. Ferris will manage a crew of six full- and part-time crew members as well as overseeing terrain park events during the 2012-13 season.
“Chaz brings a great depth of park and snowboarding knowledge to Bolton and we’re excited to have him on board,” said Josh Arneson, Bolton Valley’s director of sales and marketing. “He will be responsible for manning the groomer to build and maintain the park as well as working daily on the hill overseeing the park crew. He’ll draw on his experience on the Northstar park crew and as a snowboard coach to bring a fresh perspective to the Bolton Valley Parks.”
Bolton Valley features three terrain parks. All three are easily accessible from the Snowflake lift.
The Burton Progression Park is designed for skiers and riders who are just learning to ride park and understand terrain park etiquette. This park contains small features that are low to the ground, perfect for learning.
The Jungle Jib is a rail garden and contains medium/large rails, boxes, and jibs.
The Butterscotch Terrain Park is the area’s large park, set up with the advanced park rider in mind. It contains medium/large features, flowing from top to bottom like a slopestyle course.
Ferris has 10 years of resort experience working at Northstar as well as at Crested Butte in Colorado. As a member of the park crew, he worked closely with groomers setting up and maintaining features. As a snowboard coach he worked with freestyle and alpine snowboard athletes.
Ferris will oversee a variety of events and features as well, including the all new US Airbag, which will be at Bolton from March 1-10. The US Air Bag is a giant air bag that will be set up below an on-snow jump. New riders and pros alike build confidence with the aid of soft landings and a repeatable and enjoyable experience. Bolton Valley guests will have access to the air bag for a nominal fee.
