Berry Family to Sell Saddleback

Rangeley, ME – The Berry family has sunk $40 million into Saddleback over the past 10 years, but now they say it’s time to sell the Maine ski resort.

The 400-acre, 2,000 vertical-foot ski resort near Rangeley, along with most of the condos surrounding the trails, were listed last month with Malone Commercial Brokers of Portland for an asking price of $12 million. They’re willing to stay on as partners or sell the property outright, either to a private owner or to a non-profit entity. Their only requirement is that any new owner must continue the family’s mission to offer affordable skiing while providing jobs to this rural northwestern corner of Maine.

The Berry family will keep the remaining 7,600 acres of land they own adjacent to the ski area. The prospective sale is expected to have no effect on Saddleback’s operations this winter.
