Winter Park, CO – A malfunctioning chairlift at Winter Park Resort in Colorado forced the evacuation of hundreds of riders during the busy holiday period.
Employee Jack Ellenberger is being hailed as a hero for noticing an unspecified component break on the Sunnyside lift at Mary Jane on Sunday morning and shutting down the chairlift, preventing any further mishaps.
It took resort employees nearly two hours to evacuate more than 150 patrons from the chair, a fixed-grip triple.
Winter Park Resort is located 67 miles northwest of Denver.
