Mt. Hood, OR – Mt. Hood Meadows will operate lifts until midnight New Year’s Eve as part of the Oregon ski and snowboard resort’s “Brrring in the New Year” celebration featuring fireworks, a feast and a party.
With a base already exceeding 100 inches, conditions are ripe for the holiday celebration. A fireworks display will launch around 10 p.m., and party goers can dance to the music of “Keegan Smith and the Family” from 8 p.m. until just after midnight, enjoying party favors and a champagne toast.
The party will be staged at the resort’s “Vertical,” a third-story restaurant with glass walls overlooking the resort’s base area. It’s a great place to watch the fireworks. Vertical North will be turned into a casino to add fun and flavor to the party.
An elaborate dinner buffet will be served earlier in the evening. Reservations are required for the dinner buffet and the party, but not for night skiing or enjoying the fireworks.
New Year’s Eve buses will run from the Monarch Hotel in Clackamas, making shuttling to the mountain New Year’s Eve convenient. The buses head to the mountain around 3 p.m. and depart from the mountain at 12:30 a.m. The Monarch Hotel is offering special room rates for those wanting to spend the night when the bus returns (and drive home the next day).
A special 3 p.m.-to-midnight New Year’s Eve lift ticket can be purchased at the ski resort for $49.
Packages for the evening can be purchased in advance online at www.SkiHood.com.
