Bruce Hornsby Kicks Off Jay Peak Winter Music Series

Jay, VT – Jay Peak Resort has announced a lineup of chart toppers for the Vermont ski and snowboard resort’s Winter Music and Art Series. The list includes acts like Grammy-winner Bruce Hornsby, Steve Earl, Son Volt, James McMurtry, and Dawes. The winter series suns through March.

Jay Peak began showcasing live music in the resort’s Foeger Ballroom this past summer with performances from such groups as the Wailers and the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience. The Foeger Ballroom at Jay Peak proved such a popular venue that the resort decided to continue to book live acts indefinitely.

“Featuring live music wasn’t necessarily in the plan when we were building the new Hotel Jay and Conference Center,” said Steve Wright, vice president of sales and marketing for Jay Peak. “But the Foeger Ballroom turned out to be an ideal venue for showcasing live acts; intimate setting and great acoustics. When you see a show you get the feel that they’re playing in your living room.”

Bruce Hornsby will kick-off the Winter Music and Art Series on Saturday, January 19th. The three-time Grammy winner will play a special solo show in the Foeger Ballroom with doors opening at 7pm and the show beginning at 8pm. The multi-platinum  selling Hornsby began topping American music charts with his 1986 hit The Way it is and has toured with the likes of the Grateful Dead and Ricky Scaggs.

Hornsby’s rich fusion of jazz, bluegrass, and rock gives his music a distinctive sound well outside the  boundaries of today’s standard pop tunes with his concerts often featuring jazz-fueled improvs that give his shows a jam-band vibe.

The winter music series moves into full speed in the month of February with the Felice Brothers, Dirty Dozen Brass Band and Son Volt all headlining the Foeger Ballroom at Jay Peak. James McMurtry checks into the resort on March 10th with Dawes playing on March 29th.
