Denver, CO – Alpine skiing and sledding will return to Denver’s Ruby Hill Park on Monday, giving city dwellers a chance to try Colorado’s favorite sport free of charge.
Winter Park Resort and the Denver Department of Parks and Recreation have made snow to construct the Ruby Hill Rail Yard, featuring an acre of terrain and eight terrain park rails, annually since 2007, with the exception of last winter when it was too warm to make snow in the park. The plan is to keep the facility up and running for approximately six weeks this year.
The park is open seven days a week from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. Retailer Christy Sports provides free ski and snowboard equipment rentals for participants Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There is no charge to use the facility.
The Ruby Hill Rail Yard is located at Platte River Drive and Jewell Avenue in Denver in Ruby Hill Park.
