The Garrett County Sheriff’s office identified the victim as James Jungjin Park, 40, of Rockville, Md. A report filed by the sheriff’s office indicates that Park lost control on Wisp’s Squirrel Cage run and struck trees alongside the trail.

Reportedly an accomplished skier, Park was participating with friends in the resort’s First Tracks program, which allows season pass holders and multi-day ticket holders access to the slopes 90 minutes before they open to the public, when the incident occurred on Saturday morning.

Park was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a nearby hospital. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
