Willett Wins First 4Star BGV Big Air Contest in Moscow

Moscow, Russia – It was an action packed weekend in downtown Moscow, with a massive Big Air setup at the VV Central Exhibition Center square. For the first time in TTR Pro Snowboarding’s history a 4Star Big Air competition was held in the capital city, and it was a huge success — especially for American rider Eric Willett, of Breckenridge, Colo.

‘’It was such an amazing experience yet again. Winning here in this amazing capital felt really good, I am happy with my season. It’s all one big adventure,’’ said Willett, whose smooth Backside 1260 Indy grab and frontside tailslide to 270 out, took the top podium spot.

Russian Alexey Sobolev followed Willett with a Switch Backside 1260 mute Double Cork, and backside boardslide to fakie on the rails. O’Neill Evolution winner Maxence Parrot of Canada took third with his Cab Double Cork 1260 with Melon grab, and a noseslide off the rainbow rails.

Not everything evolved around the competitions; in between snowboard action, the massive crowd was entertained with motocross and snowmobile showcases and live musical acts like Xzibit.

‘’It was our first time in Moscow. I see great potential for this sensational event, I expect it to grow and hope to welcome many more people to witness it in coming years,” said World Snowboard Tour manager Fabia Grüebler.

The results from Moscow will count towards the World Snowboard Tour Big Air Championship of 2013-14, as the Big Air Champion 2013, Sebastien Toutant of Canada, was already crowned at the last 6Star event of the season, the Billabong Air&Style in Innsbruck.
