McHenry, MD – An Ohio man is the second skier to die this season on the same slope at Maryland’s only ski resort.
Curt Winklevoss, 38, of Upper Arlington, Ohio, lost control and crashed into trees lining Wisp Resort’s expert-rated Squirrel Cage run on Feb. 22. He was pronounced dead at the nearby Garrett County Memorial Hospital.
Garrett County authorities indicate that the slope was icy at the time of Winklevoss’ death. In January, James Jungjin Park, 40, of Rockville, Md., died under nearly identical circumstances, also on Wisp’s Squirrel Cage trail.
Winklevoss was visiting the resort where his parents have a second home and where his father used to teach skiing. He was skiing with his wife when the incident occurred. He leaves behind a five-year-old son and three-year-old daughter.
