A passing skier noticed the 26-year-old man entangled in a tree lining the intermediate Tantamount trail, an intermediate run located near the top of Brighton’s Crest Express chairlift, at around 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. A Life Flight helicopter was called to the scene, but efforts by Brighton Ski Patrol and paramedics with the Unified Fire Department to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.

Authorities are withholding the name of the victim pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be conducted by the state medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

Tantamount is one of Brighton’s runs illuminated for night skiing until 9 p.m.
