Park City, UT – Park City Mountain Resort, in conjunction with the Park City Ski Team and U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, will proudly welcome Park City native, U.S. Ski Team alpine racer and lifetime Park City Mountain Resort skier Ted Ligety home from an historic World Cup season on April 6. The homecoming, held in the resort plaza, will be free and the public is encouraged to attend.
In February, Ligety enjoyed a season not seen in nearly half a century, becoming the first man in 45 years – and the first non-European ever – to win three ski world championship races (giant slalom, super G and combined). He also won six World Cup giant slalom events, finishing third in the overall standings, and wrapped his season by winning the men’s slalom at the U.S. Alpine Championships.
On April 6, PCMR welcomes Ligety back to his home mountain where he has skied his entire life and began his racing career. The program, including remarks from previous world champion Stein Eriksen, a meet and greet with Ligety and live music, begins at 1:00 p.m. A detailed schedule follows below:
- 1:00 p.m. – Parade of flags down lower PayDay run
- 1:15 p.m. – Ted Ligety introduced on stage, participates in live Q&A with guests
- 1:30 p.m. – Remarks from former world champion Stein Eriksen , US Ski & Snowboard Association President Bill Marolt and Park City Mayor Dana Williams
- 1:45 p.m. – Remarks from Ted Ligety
- 2:00-3:00 p.m. – Meet and greet with Ted Ligety at PayDay plaza
- 3:00 p.m. – Live music featuring Bryon Friedman on PayDay Deck at Legacy Lodge
