Angel Fire, NM – The wildfire season of summer 2012 was a tough one for firefighters in New Mexico, and following another dry winter they’re bracing for another challenging summer this year.
Angel Fire Resort, located in the Rocky Mountains of northern New Mexico, is gearing up to help by raising money for a Northern New Mexico Firefighter Fund. The fund, created by the ski and snowboard resort, will be used to help northern New Mexico firefighters combat potential forest fires. The resort will donate 10% of sales from their opening weekend activities, slated for this weekend, May 17 – 19. The resort will donate funds from activities including mountain biking, golfing, fishing, boating, ziplining, as well as, 10% from all chairlift tickets purchased.
“This drought season is a scary one, especially for all of us in the higher elevation areas,” explains Jamie Seifert, mountain operations manager at Angel Fire Resort. “We’re all in this together and we want to do what we can here at Angel Fire Resort to provide as many resources as possible for firefighters.”
Angel Fire Resort will open its full resort this Friday, May 17, including a dedicated bike park with over 50 miles of cross-country and downhill trails, golfing, tennis, stocked fishing lakes, scenic hiking, Frisbee golf and New Mexico’s only Zipline Tour – one of the highest in the United States.
