Lake Placid, NY – Beer lovers unite! The second annual Lake Placid Brewfest, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 3-7 p.m., is being held in the Lake Placid Olympic Center’s 1932 Rink. The scheduling of the Lake Placid Brewfest coincides with peak fall foliage viewing in the Adirondack Mountains and the annual Flaming Leaves Festival ski jumping competition, blues music performance and BBQ being held Saturday and Sunday at the 1980 Olympic ski jumps outside of town.
Over 40 microbrew companies and more than 80 different kinds of beer from around the country will be featured including: Bell’s Brewery, Inc. of Kalamazoo, Mich.; Blue Point Brewing Company of Patchogue, N.Y.; Blue Line Brewery of nearby Saranac Lake, N.Y.; Brooklyn Brewery in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Dogfish Head Brewery of Milton, Del.; The Olde Burnside Brewing Company, located in East Hartford, Conn.; Plattsburgh Brewing Company in Plattsburgh, N.Y.; Sixpoint Brewery of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Unibroue Brewery of Chambly, Quebec, Canada, among many others. Each of the breweries will be on hand to offer samples and talk brewing with those 21 and over. There will also be live music by Annie in the Water, and food provided by Centerplate.
Craft brewing in one of the fastest growing industries in the United States, providing an estimated more than 103,000. As of March 18 of this year, the Brewers Association was aware of 409 brewery openings in 2012. In 2012, craft brewers sold an estimated 13,235,917 barrels of beer.
