Q Burke and Jay Peak Offer Free Season Passes to Military Families

Jay, VT – Vermont’s Jay Peak Resort is again offering free season passes to all immediate family members of Vermonters currently deployed, or about to be deployed, overseas. But now that Jay Peak and Q Burke Mountain (Burke Mountain ski area’s new official name) have the same owners, Vermont military families will enjoy the Judge—the season pass that provides unlimited skiing and riding to both mountains.

Jay Peak started the free pass policy in 2007 with other resorts throughout New England following suit in the intervening years. The offer this season, at both Q Burke Mountain and Jay Peak, extends to the children and spouses of all Vermont active-duty personnel across all service branches: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and the National Guard. In addition to the free season pass, immediate family members will also receive a 50% discount on equipment rentals, and free skiing or riding lessons in the afternoons, space permitting, at both resorts as well.

“We want to let our military families know that their service and dedication to our country is valued,” said Ary Quiros, Q Burke’s president and CEO. “Helping them to provide memorable experiences at Q Burke or Jay Peak will facilitate a bond that is crucial in keeping families strong for all service personnel.”

Quiros served as a captain in the United States Army, completing three tours of duty between Iraq and Afghanistan. He continues to serve in the Vermont Army National Guard.

To receive the free pass, immediate family members can visit Q Burke Mountain’s Guest Services desk on the first floor of the resort’s Sherburne Lodge. To receive the free pass at Jay Peak, immediate family members can visit the resort’s Customer Service center located just beneath the tram station. Passes will be issued after presenting a Letter of Deployment and the military IDs that are issued to family members.

“A lot of us up here (in the Northeast Kingdom) have witnessed first-hand the sacrifice these service members and their families have made for the last twelve years as loved ones have been deployed overseas,” said Jay Peak president Bill Stenger. “Extending these types of offers is the least we can do to help provide some fun and enjoyment that might lighten the stress military families feel on a daily basis.”

In addition to the free season pass, Jay Peak and Q Burke will also host a Troops Ski and Ride Day on Saturday, December 14th. All active duty personnel and their immediate family members will receive a $20 lift ticket when presenting their military IDs. Tickets can be purchased at the Customer Service centers located at both the Tram and Statesides of the resort at Jay Peak, and at Guest Services located in the Sherburne Lodge at Q Burke.
