Powdr Enterprises Acquires Emmy Award-Winning Television Series

Park City, UT – Powdr Enterprises, a division of Park City, Utah-based ski resort owner/operator Powdr Corp., on Monday announced the acquisition of the Emmy Award-winning television series “World of Adventure Sports Presented by GoPro.” Powdr Enterprises is transforming World of Adventure from a television series airing on NBC and NBCSN into a year-round, multi-platform offering that integrates all of Powdr’s businesses and consumer touch points including mountain resorts, television, content, digital platforms, and events.

“Powdr has an incredibly unique network to connect with the more than 58 million participants and enthusiasts of the fastest growing lifestyle segment, adventure sports,” said Wade Martin, president of Powdr Enterprises. “World of Adventure will be the vehicle to package these assets together for brands and provide an unparalleled platform to connect and engage with the adventure lifestyle community in relevant and authentic ways.

“More and more brands are becoming content creators,” added Martin. “We believe we are uniquely positioned to provide both the venue/destination for proprietary brand events and activation at our resorts, and now with the new World of Adventure, we can provide turnkey distribution for that content across multiple platforms.”

Founded and produced by 360 Media Ventures, the World of Adventure content captures the stories of adventure sport athletes pushing boundaries and testing the limits of what is possible in some of the world’s most extraordinary places.

GoPro, which recently signed a multi-year deal, will remain the presenting sponsor of the television show, which will see increased programming across the NBC Sports Group. In 2014, World of Adventure will have six original hours of programming on NBC, which will increase to eight original hours in 2015. There will also be extensive distribution across NBCSN and digital properties. In addition, World of Adventure will air over 240 hours of programming annually on Outside Television.

As part of the multi-platform offering, World of Adventure in partnership with Outside Television has developed a digital content distribution platform by working with some of the top adventure and lifestyle sites across the Internet. Powdr Enterprises will also launch a new destination site for World of Adventure that will provide premium original short form content including event and athlete profiles, content generated by Powdr Resorts, partner contributed content, and extended content from the television series.

One of the most unique aspects of the new World of Adventure is the access it provides brands to Powdr Resorts, which operates mountain resorts spread across the nation including Park City Mountain Resort in Utah, Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado, Killington Resort in Vermont, and Mt. Bachelor Resort in Oregon, among others.

The new World of Adventure will launch in March 2014.
