Avon, CO – K2 Skis and the K2 Ski Alliance, an organization that helps unite female skiers, are proud to announce Christy Sports’ participation in the first annual International Women’s Ski Day (#IWSD). On Saturday, Dec. 14, Colorado women will join others from around the world to celebrate skiing with their daughters, sisters, mothers and girlfriends.
K2 Ski Alliance members Kim Reichelm and Heather Paul Featherman will be at Beaver Creek for the day of skiing and fundraising. The event begins with a 9 a.m. meet and greet at Christy Sports in the Beaver Creek village, where complimentary demo skis will be available. After hitting the slopes, there will be a silent auction fundraiser in the Beaver Creek Lodge from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. that supports the local Shaw Cancer Center and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“Although promoted by K2, International Women’s Ski Day should be celebrated by all females, regardless of what brand they ski, where they live or their level of experience,” said Alyssa Clark, K2 Skis’ Marketing Coordinator and Women’s Ski Team Manager. “IWSD is simply a way for girls to get outside, ski and enjoy each other’s company.”
An interactive map on K2’s website allows participants to “pin” ski-related events to specific locations anywhere in the world. The site will act as a constantly evolving informational resource for women to plan anything from an organized group lesson to a fun afternoon of après. Those who are looking to participate but are lacking ski partners in their area are encouraged to connect with members of the K2 Ski Alliance via the online, interactive Google map.
