Southern Utah Ski Area Opens a Week Early with $25 Lift Tickets

Beaver, UT – Vegas denizens, pack your bags today and head north, for southern Utah’s Eagle Point Resort, which operates completely on natural snow, will open for a special preview weekend this Saturday and Sunday with $25 lift tickets for all.

With 86 inches of snowfall season-to-date, including 17-20 inches just this past weekend, opening a week ahead of schedule seems like a no-brainer. To entice visitors, Eagle Point will offer up four open lifts, 30 open runs and a terrain park, all for $25 per day this weekend. For out-of-town visitors, slopeside lodging is also available this weekend at a reduced rate of $79 per night, plus taxes and cleaning fee.

“We are still finishing some projects, like the upper lodge kitchen expansion and the relocation of the surface lift to the steep side. However, we received so much new snow that we wanted to open early for the weekend so our guests could enjoy a powder day early in the season,” explained Shane Gadbaw, CEO and co-owner of Eagle Point.

After this weekend, Eagle Point will close this Monday through Wednesday before reopening for daily operations during the holiday period from Thursday, December 19 through January 5.

In October 2013, Eagle Point announced “Your Second Home,” its core marketing campaign for the 2013-14 season, in which it offers flat rate $25 lift tickets all season for children age 7-17, college students with valid ID, officials including active duty military, police and firefighters with ID, casino industry employees with ID, anyone holding a valid 2013-14 season pass to another U.S. resort, anyone staying at the resort with a two-night minimum lodging package (excluding holidays), and eligible tour bus operators. Additionally, everyone gets a $25 lift ticket Mondays through Thursdays non-holiday.

“Sking and snowboarding would be so much more popular if they weren’t so expensive,” Gadbaw asserts. “When we smashed our single day attendance record on the first free Thursday last year, we learned immediately how critical price is when trying out a new resort. We already knew from experience that after one visit, most guests love what they experience here and look forward to coming back.”

Since re-opening in 2010 after eight dark years, the former Elk Meadows Resort is located deep in the picturesque Tushar Mountains 18 miles east of Beaver, Utah, less than a four-hour drive from either Las Vegas or Salt Lake City. With 400 skiable acres and 1,500 vertical feet, Eagle Point offers a balance of family friendly terrain adjacent to the steepest lift-served slopes in southern Utah and some of Utah’s most desirable, yet relatively deserted backcountry.
