Winter Park, CO – A 19-year-old snowboarder has died from injuries sustained at Colorado’s Winter Park Resort last month.
Sean Teater, of Fort Collins, Colo., was riding at Winter Park on Dec. 19. His unconscious body was found along the intermediate-rated Butch’s Breezeway run off the resort’s Prospector Express chairlift.
Fraser Winter Park Police have determined that Teater, who was relatively new to snowboarding, had fallen several times in the morning while he was not wearing a helmet. The police investigation indicates that Teater opted to wear his helmet in the afternoon.
Winter Park Ski Patrol transported Teater to the Denver Health East Grand Medical Clinic at the base of the resort before he was transferred via helicopter to a facility in Denver.
An autopsy report from the Grand County Coroner’s Office lists blunt force trauma to the head as the cause of death.
