Comox Valley (BC), Canada – Vancouver Island’s only commercial ski resort is up for sale.
Incorporated in 1977, Mount Washington Alpine Resort is owned by a small group of local private investors. Like the rest of the Pacific Northwest, Mount Washington has struggled with a lack of snowfall this season, finally opening last week after missing out on the lucrative Christmas/New Year’s week.
The decision to sell the resort, however, was reached last summer. The sale is being held privately, and the asking price has not been disclosed. CBRE Canada, a commercial real estate company, is brokering any potential deal.
The resort operates with five chairlifts spanning 1,657 vertical feet, covering over 1,700 acres of terrain. In a normal season, Mount Washington receives an average of 450 inches of snowfall annually, according to statistics published on the resort’s website.
