Craftsbury, VT – A member of Dartmouth’s cross-country ski team collapsed and died on Saturday while competing in Vermont.
Dartmouth president Philip Hanlon has confirmed that Torin Tucker, a native of Sun Valley, Idaho, collapsed and died while racing at the annual Winter Carnival in Craftsbury in northeastern Vermont. An exact cause of death has not yet been determined.
“It is with great sadness I write to inform you that we have learned of the death of Torin Tucker, ’15, who passed away today while competing in a cross country skiing event in Craftsbury, Vt.,” Halnon wrote in an email to the Dartmouth College community. “Torin was there as a member of Dartmouth’s Ski Team. We have been in contact with his family and share our deepest sympathies with them at this time of heartbreaking loss. Gail’s and my thoughts are with Torin’s family, friends, and the entire Dartmouth community at this time of such a tragic loss.”
