Warren, VT – A 19-year-old University of Vermont student crashed into a trail sign and died at Vermont’s Sugarbush Resort on Saturday.
Kendra Bowers, a UVM sophomore from Newport, R.I., was skiing with family and friends on the Lower Rim Run Trail at Mount Ellen on Saturday morning, according to Vermont State Police, when she lost control at the intersection with the Lower FIS Trail. Bowers traveled off the right side of the trail and struck a trail sign.
Sugarbush Ski Patrol and emergency responders responded to the area and provided medical treatment until she was transported to Central Vermont Hospital (CVH) in Berlin, where she succumbed to her injuries upon arrival. Bowers’ body was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s office in Burlington for autopsy.
Bowers was a sophomore environmental sciences major at UVM, where she was also an active member of the a cappella campus singing group known as “ZEST.”
