South Lake Tahoe, CA/NV – A teen who recently moved to Lake Tahoe died last week following a snowboarding accident at Heavenly Resort.
Wyatt James Colvard, 18, who lived in Kings Beach on Tahoe’s north shore, was snowboarding at Heavenly before he was found unconscious shortly before noon on Tuesday within the resort’s black diamond Nevada Woods, which was closed at the time according to resort officials.
Tahoe Douglas Paramedics unsuccessfully performed advanced life support on the victim. The cause of death is listed as internal injuries secondary to blunt force trauma. Authorities indicate that Colvard was found wearing a helmet.
Colvard had recently moved from the coastal California community of Fountain Valley to take a job at Northstar California. Both Northstar and Heavenly are Tahoe-area ski resorts owned by Broomfield, Colo.-based Vail Resorts.
