Park City, UT – U.S. Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety returns tomorrow to the mountain where he learned to ski and race, when Park City Mountain Resort hosts a welcome celebration for the Sochi Games and World Cup champion.
Ligety will sign autographs and take pictures with the public from 10 to 11 a.m. in the resort plaza.
“We are thrilled to team up with Coca-Cola in welcoming Ted back to his home mountain,” said Jenni Smith, president and general manager of Park City Mountain Resort. “Ted learned to ski, and later to race, right here on our slopes – we are proud and honored to welcome Ted back home as a Winter Games gold medalist for the second time.”
Ligety won gold in alpine giant slalom last month in Sochi, becoming the only American male alpine skier to ever win multiple Olympic gold medals (his first came in the 2006 Turin Games). More recently, he clinched his fifth World Cup giant slalom season title in Lenzerheide, Switzerland March 15.
When home between World Cup events, the Park City native can still be found hitting his favorite powder stashes at Park City Mountain Resort.
