Authorities were notified of the disappearance of Lyndon Mann, of Royalton, at around 7 p.m. on Monday evening. While they knew that he had been skiing, it was not immediately clear where. After police found his vehicle parked at Pico, a ground search was activated using officials with the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife and Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team, the Killington Fire Department, Killington Search and Rescue, and ski patrollers from Killington Resort.

Searchers located Mann around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning on the west side of Pico Mountain beyond the ski area boundary. He was not injured in the ordeal and was able to exit the woods under his own power.
