Searchers Locate Lost Sugarbush Skiers

Fayston, VT – Vermont State Police are reporting the rescue of two skiers lost after leaving the boundaries of Sugarbush Resort in Waitsfield.

At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Monday, police received a report that two skiers — Kyle Howard, 20, and James Mattes, 19, both of Burlington — became disoriented after skiing off trail at Sugarbush’s Mt. Ellen.

The Warren Constables and the Sugarbush Ski Patrol were called in to assisted the Vermont State Police Search and Rescue Team and the two skiers were quickly located. Both uninjured in the incident.

“The skiers were not dressed appropriately and at the time of the incident it was snowing,” police indicate.
