New York, NY – Will Bode Miller’s no-holds-barred skiing style carry over to broadcasting? Ski racing fans will find out on December 4, when Miller will join the NBC Sports staff telecasting the Birds of Prey World Cup races from Beaver Creek.
For nearly two decades, Miller has been one of the sport’s most unique personalities. As a member of five U.S. Olympic teams (1998-2014), he earned six medals – the most ever by a U.S. skier — including a gold in super combined at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Miller’s impressive career also includes four gold medals from eight World Championships. A two-time World Cup overall champion (2005 and 2008), he also owns the U.S. men’s record for World Cup victories.
“We’re looking forward to Bode bringing his go-for-broke style from the slopes to the booth,” said NBC Sports alpine skiing Coordinating Producer John McGuinness. “In addition to being one of the world’s most exciting and colorful skiers, Bode may be the most knowledgeable skier in the world. His outspoken style combined with his ability to articulate the technical aspects of the sport is a powerful combination that will benefit viewers.”
“I am excited about the opportunity to call the ‘Birds of Prey’ races with Dan and the team at NBC Sports,” said Miller. “I love to watch and analyze ski racing, so that part should be very natural for me. I love trying new things and calling a race live will be a new experience.”
“Birds of Prey” is one of the world’s premier ski events, and the only men’s World Cup stop in the United States. NBC Sports’ 4.5 hours of coverage begins on Friday, December 4, at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. It continues on Saturday, December 5, at 1 p.m. ET on NBCSN, before concluding on Sunday, December 6, at 5 p.m. ET on NBC.
NBC Sports alpine skiing host Dan Hicks will call “Birds of Prey” alongside Miller, with Steve Porino serving as course reporter and retired Canadian ski racer Todd Brooker handling interviews.
