Alta Sierra, CA – Two of those charged in an October killing at a California ski area have plead guilty to accessory to murder.
Joan Noble, 35, and her boyfriend Thomas Ertz, 28, both of Bakersfield, entered their guilty pleas late last month in connection with the murder of Carl Woolwine on October 10. Both are scheduled to be sentenced on January 20.
The accused gunman, Bobbie Rhynes, is still facing first degree murder charges. Rhynes remains in custody at the Kern County Jail on $1 million bail.
All three suspects, as well as the victim were employed by the ski area to prepare it for the upcoming winter season.
Woolwine was reported missing several days before his body was discovered on October 10 in a shallow grave allegedly dug by Rhynes at the Alta Sierra Ski Resort at Shirley Meadows. His truck was found abandoned in nearby Wofford Heights, several miles from the ski area.
Rhynes is charged with shooting Woolwine near a maintenance building at the ski area in revenge for “creepy” comments and sexual innuendos he allegedly made about Noble, and Noble and Ertz were charged with helping to cover up the crime.
