Kananaskis Valley (AB), Canada – A 9-year-old girl was airlifted to a Calgary hospital in critical condition on Sunday following a skiing accident at Nakiska Ski Resort.
The victim was found unconscious at the ski area at around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Ski patrol first attended to the girl and paramedics administered CPR before transferring her to a waiting helicopter.
The victim was transferred to a waiting STARS air ambulance that administered “aggressive” first aid en route to Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary. Her current condition is not known.
It is also not yet known who she was skiing with, or precisely what happened, although officials believe that she may have struck a tree. They also believe that her helmet came off on impact, and they don’t believe that anyone else was involved in the incident.
