Skier Lost at Lost Trail

Sula, MT – A search is expected to resume this morning along the Montana-Idaho border for a skier missing at Lost Trail Powder Mountain.

The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office says that a 65-year-old resident of nearby Corvallis, Mont., went skiing at Lost Trail on Tuesday and never returned home. Searchers scoured the area on Wednesday after the man’s wife first reported him missing on Wednesday morning. Fresh snowfall from Tuesday night still draped the man’s car found in the ski area’s parking lot.

After Lost Trail’s ski patrol failed to find the man on Wednesday morning, Ravalli County Search & Rescue and a helicopter were both called into the area on Wednesday afternoon to assist with the effort. Weather and darkness halted the search on Wednesday night, and the search is expected to resume at first light this morning.

Lost Trail’s owners says that the missing man is an advanced skier who has been a season pass holder at the resort for many years. He reportedly has a penchant for skiing in the trees.
