Union Workers Reach Tentative Agreement with Tremblant

Mont-Tremblant (QC), Canada – A new contract is in place for members of a labor union that represents approximately 1,200 employees of Quebec’s Tremblant Resort, after 95 percent of the employees voted to ratify the agreement reached with the ski area this week.

The new contract, which will be in effect through fall 2020, provides wage increases totaling 10.4 percent over the life of the agreement reached between the ski resort and Syndicat des travailleurs de la Station du Mont-Tremblant, which is affiliated with CSN.

Part-time employees also stand to benefit from the new contract, union officials say, by providing two paid holidays and a minimum of five hours of pay per day even if they’re sent home earlier, up from three hours per day under the previous agreement. Part-time workers represent more than 50% of Tremblant’s workforce.

Now all Tremblant needs for this winter is snow. Record heat continues to hammer the region and only 30cm of natural snow has fallen on the resort’s slopes season to date.  Seventeen trails are currently open on man-made snow.
