Cornwall, CT – Connecticut State Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary at Mohawk Mountain ski area yesterday.
At approximately 12:32 a.m. on Monday, officers with the State Police Troop B responded to a reported burglary at Mohawk Mountain, finding forced entry through a basement window. Two suspects were viewed on a surveillance video destroying three security cameras, smashing a wooden office door, and breaking a metal door that gave access to the money vault. The damage was estimated at approximately $5,000.00.
The two suspects also took ten money drawers containing $2,050.00 cash, numerous ski passes valued at $60.00 each, and a large bucket of loose change. Through the course of the investigation, troopers were able to identify the two suspects that entered the ski resort, as well as a third suspect who was located outside acting as a lookout. Troopers also identified a suspect vehicle.
As the investigation continued, troopers obtained four Search and Seizure warrants from the Bantam Superior Court. The Search and Seizure warrants were served at the three separate addresses of the suspects, and the suspect vehicle.
Troopers recovered all of the cash drawers, ski passes, cash totaling $1137.12, evidence of the crime to include clothing worn during the burglary, burglary tools, and marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
At approximately 6 a.m. on Monday, troopers took Ralph Baldelli, 20, of Winsted, Conn., into custody. Also on Monday, at approximately 1 p.m. troopers took Terrance Edwards, 20, also of Winsted, into custody. Both were transported to Troop B where they were processed and held on $25,000 bond each pending their court dates.
Troopers will be applying for an arrest warrant for the third suspect in this case.
